Portland Saturday Market Guide (2026): Hours, Getting There & Where to Eat Brunch First

Kingsland Kitchen · Downtown Portland · Est. 2015

Portland Saturday Market has been a Rose City tradition since 1974. Here's everything you need to plan your visit, from hours and transit to the best way to start the day.

Every Saturday from March through December, the waterfront at the foot of the Burnside Bridge fills with handmade goods, live music and food booths. Portland Saturday Market is widely considered the largest continuously operating outdoor arts and crafts market in the country, and every vendor sells work they made themselves. For visitors, it's one of the most Portland things you can do in a single morning. For locals, it's where a lot of holiday shopping gets done.

We've been serving breakfast a few blocks from the market since 2015, so we've watched a lot of market Saturdays unfold. Here's our guide.

Portland Saturday Market Hours & Season

The Essentials

Days: Saturdays only

Hours: 10 AM – 5 PM

Season: March through late December (check the market's official site for this year's final date)

Address: 2 SW Naito Parkway, Portland, OR 97204 (Waterfront Park & Ankeny Plaza)

Admission: Free

Is Portland Saturday Market open on Sunday? No. You'll still find older listings online that mention Sunday hours, but the market is currently a Saturday-only event. If you're in town Sunday, plan around it.

How to Get to Portland Saturday Market

By MAX or bus

Transit is the easiest option. MAX light rail stops at the Old Town/Chinatown station and the Oak/SW 1st Ave station, and both put you within a short walk of the market. Several bus lines run along the downtown transit mall on SW 5th and 6th Avenues.

By car

Street parking near the waterfront fills quickly on Saturdays, especially from late morning on. Your best bet is to arrive early and use one of the downtown parking garages. If you're coming for brunch first, you can park once near SW Pine Street and walk everything.

On foot from downtown hotels

If you're staying downtown or in Old Town, you're almost certainly within walking distance. The market sits right along Naito Parkway at the river, so head east toward the water and you'll hear it before you see it.

What You'll Find at the Market

Every booth is juried, and everything is handmade by the person selling it. That's what makes it different from a typical street fair. Expect to find:

  • Jewelry and accessories, from silversmiths and bead workers to leather goods
  • Art and prints, including plenty of Portland- and Oregon-themed pieces that make great souvenirs
  • Clothing and textiles, including hand-dyed, knit and screen-printed pieces
  • Home goods such as pottery, woodwork, glass, candles and soaps
  • Food booths serving a wide range of cuisines for lunch on your feet
  • Live music and street performers throughout the day

Holiday shopping tip: November and December Saturdays are the market's busiest stretch, because it's one of the best places in Portland to buy one-of-a-kind gifts. Go early. The first hour is noticeably calmer than midday.

The Perfect Market Saturday: Brunch First

Here's the thing most visitors figure out too late: the market opens at 10, and the food booths are built for grabbing lunch while you walk, not for a sit-down breakfast. If you want a real morning meal, eat before you go.

Kingsland Kitchen opens at 9 AM, an hour before the market, and we're about a five-minute walk away at 301 SW Pine St. Here's how we'd plan the day:

9:00 AM Brunch at Kingsland Kitchen. Beat the late-morning rush, grab a coffee or a mimosa, and eat properly.
10:15 AM Walk to the market. Head east on Pine toward the river, then north to Ankeny Plaza. You'll arrive early enough to browse before the crowds peak.
12:30 PM Waterfront Park. Walk off brunch along the river, or cross the Burnside Bridge for the east-side skyline view.
Afternoon Old Town and Chinatown. The neighborhood's historic blocks and the Lan Su Chinese Garden are right next door. See our Old Town & Chinatown guide.

Doubling up on markets? The Portland Farmers Market at PSU also runs Saturday mornings in the South Park Blocks. Start there, walk north for brunch, then finish at the Saturday Market. Our PSU & South Park Blocks guide has the walking route.

What to Order Before a Day on Your Feet

You're about to walk a few hours in a crowd, so eat accordingly. These are the plates we'd point a market-goer toward:

Full English Breakfast Bangers, housemade Irish back bacon, blood sausage, beans, tomato, mushrooms, two sunny eggs. Built to hold you until dinner. $24
Breakfast Burrito Housemade chorizo, eggs, potatoes, cheese, avocado and chipotle cream. Hearty, and it travels well if you're in a hurry. $20
Classic Eggs Benedict Honey ham, two poached eggs and chipotle hollandaise on an English muffin. $19
French Toast Custard-soaked local brioche with seasonal fruit, for the sweet-tooth side of the table. $20
Kingsland Bloody Mary Housemade mary mix and pickled veggies. It's Saturday, after all. $10

Walk-ins are always welcome, and you can join our waitlist from your phone before you arrive. See the full menu here.
